For quite seven long and happy years, a small pup named Fulmine shared his beautiful life with Sara Sechi’s dad, Leonardo. The two lived just on the countryside of Italy – finding simple happiness in each other’s company.

According to Sechi, Fulmine and Leonardo were so affectionate. They always cuddled. Sadly, the best friends’ time together came to an end last month. However, their love still lives on.

In February, after Leonardo’s long battle with a disease, he passed away. During his hospital days, his family cared for his beloved Fulmine, where they noticed how much the pup was missing him. Sechi said whenever a car arrived, Fulmine would run over the gate in hopes it’s her dad. Even after Leonardo was buried, the pup didn’t stop looking for him.

And then finally he found him.

One day after her dad’s funeral, Sechi together with her son went to the cemetery to lay some flowers at the grave. As soon as they arrived, they were so surprised to find out that somebody else was also there for a visit.

It’s Fulmine.

Incredibly, the faithful dog had walked almost two miles from the countryside all by himself, arriving at the exact spot where Leonardo had been buried. Fulmine seemed to understand that his best friend, whom he had never seen in a few weeks, was now here.

According to Sechi, she never expected to find him there, too. He had never been at her dad’s funeral. She had no clue how the dog knew where to go. Yet, there’s Fulmine – reuniting with her dad, even if only in spirit.

That would never be Fulmine’s last visit. In the next following weeks, neighbors have seen the little pup making his way on his own to and from the cemetery to visit the best friend he had lost.

Sechi added that they think the dog goes there every single day. However, how he knew where Leonardo was laid to rest remains a mystery. Sechi continued that she likes to think that Fulmine is guided by his love for her dad. Or, that her dad led him there. It’s either of these strange things without some real explanation.

The dog’s heart still aches – however, it’s a feeling he won’t have to face alone. Sechi decided to take Fulmine in to live with her, both to mourn together and to one day move forward in creating new happy memories as a family.  Leonardo’s legacy will remain to live on in each of their hearts.

According to Sechi, it makes her emotional considering how much her dad loved Fulmine and so does the dog to him. It is sad to see him grieve. But they’ll slowly get through this sorrowful moment together.
